Yet another film blog.
| Today, I went and saw Fame. I thought it was good but lacked originality. It needed it's own unique spin with our modern artistic society and I didn't get that vibe. They just injected hip-hop, rap, techno, stereotypical African Americans and technology. I missed the whole indie side to music we have now-days and wanted THAT kind of originality. Seriously, it was like someone shone a mirror up to the 1980s Fame and shone it into the 21st century, I was sitting in the movie picking things that we're simply copied/modernised from the original. But other than that it was entertaining and the acting was alright. Verdict: 3/5 stars - mostly for effort. Also, I rented Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist. LOVED THIS FILM! I don't know why but these small indie films just seem to warm my heart and involve amazing scripts. You know, things like Juno or Little Miss Sunshine or even (500) Days of Summer. For me, these movies just hold that special (or even secret) ingredient to make a great film by my standards. Verdict: 4/5 stars. (500) Days of Summer: Review
| I officially love this film. Not only was it refreshing but it was also really good. It wasn't some generic piece for shit cliche romantic comedy, it was unique. I loved the directing, cinematography and the layout of the whole film, not what I was expecting but it was good nonetheless. It was funny when it wanted to be and was actually funny! The script had depth and a storyline and the acting was superb for the roles. The music was also important for me as well... IT WASN'T POP! It was nice indie/alternative stuff that suited the film perfectly. I also thought the ending was quite cute. Well, if you haven't seen it already, go see it or you'll be disappointed. Ignorance? Is it me or them? Or possibly us all?
| Tonight I was waiting outside somewhere for my mum. I was standing there being all 'loiter-y' when I notice a couple with a small child coming toward me. Now, I could tell they were American from their accents, although that's not really important... but it kinda is but for the purpose of this story it isn't. So, this is basically what happened (totally paraphrasing but the idea is still there): Son: Mummy, why do animals have tails? Mum: I'm not sure son... (They start turning into a stairwell) Mum: But I'm sure God made them in his eye... DON'T TELL HIM THAT YOU STUPID WOMAN! I literally felt like yelling "SHE'S LYING TO YOU!" down the stairwell but restrained myself as I really didn't want to get into a fight with a religious middle aged woman and her husband... He is just a child and is likely to believe you! Do not use the innocence of a child to bludgeon him with religious values, even though he may not know it. It just pisses me off when they blatantly deny scientific experimentation etc. because if she knew about FACTS and EVIDENCE then she would know that it has something to do with adaptation as to help the animal to survive, not some bloody cock-and-bull story about creation. Now, I'm not sure why this angers me so much because it's either my ignorance to religion or that they are ignorant to science, evidence and facts... That's my rant for this evening, Goodnight.
