Avatar: The Review.
...Oh my God. This movie was... It was... It is being lost for words. It was amazing. It was brilliant. It was just a sub-meaning of 'awesome'. The plot was enjoyable, like, for what was happening, it had the perfect running time. The effects and Pandora was just mind-blowing. You seriously left the film like you wanted to live there. It's hard to write a review with this movie because it's easier picking bad things in a film. This film didn't have many bad things, and if there were any mistakes it was extremely subtle and was worthy of forgetting. I do admit the plot was a bit Hollywood at times but that can be forgiven. Fucking amazing and mind blowing film. Verdict: 5/5 stars. Really, if you miss this you should be shot. Labels: Avatar, film, film review |
My view on 2012.
Yes, I did see it. It was excruciatingly stunning, and now I guess you want reasons for this conclusion, so this is it. First of all, it goes for ages and when you have another hour and thirty minutes to go, you've wondered why the world hasn't fucked itself by now. I sensed that the film was trying too hard like "Lets shove action and morals together! That always works!" It may work but it makes for an incredibly cliche performance. So, this film practically reads from the Book of Cliche End of the World Films. For example, the end of the world seems to fit in nicely with the survival of the protagonist, seriously, make one where he dies, it'd be more tragic and interesting. I mean, it was climactic etc. but I was literally sitting being like, "He's not dead" and "This is gonna happen" and, to my amazement it did. I'm a kickass psychic. Anyway, apart from the basic storyline, the visual effects and CGI were pretty epic; I have to give them credit for that because that was enjoyable although it was that CGI where you knew it was. Of coarse I'm asking for a lot when I ask for there to actually be a massive volcano coming out of the ground and erupting but it would have been more realistic if that was the case. I lol'd in some places because I was like "As if..." and "Haha, the old women ran into a piece of rising earth." Also, the fact that they added horrible one liners before something bad happens was irritating and I wanted to slap the screenwriter for doing so and the way the cracks so happened to split important landmarks etc. throughout the world was absolutely amazing and horribly cheesy. Another thing was the fact that this is based on an actual theory. Which, surprisingly, scares the fuck out of me. I'm not sure that this is going to happen but, like most humans, the unknown scares the living breath out of me and I had a queasy stomach watching the first parts of the film. I also have a fear of death which could have contributed to it; a mixture of fear, death and the unknown is shit scary. I wasn't scared so much at the CGI etc. but the whole concept of the end of the world. I know what I want to do on 21/12/12 - be with my friends. Just in case. Verdict: 2.75/5 stars. A visually stunning film but lacked in true morality and originality. Peace out, --Lamehobo. Labels: 2012, Awesome, film, film review, LameHobo |
