"I'm not afraid to speak out, and say things that I want to do, or do the things that I want to do, so um, I think in the end, being natural, and being, being actually genuine is what wins." - Freddie Mercury.

"All the forces in the world are not so powerful as an idea whose time has come." - Victor Hugo.

“More people have been slaughtered in the name of religion than for any other single reason. That, my friends, that is true perversion.” - Harvey Milk.

A passionate and sweaty protest.
Today I was in the city. I first went and saw A Serious Man at The Regent which is a beautiful designed theatre and I'd give the film 4/5 stars. It's what happened after that was important. I met with four friends in Queens Park where a rally was to be held. It was hot and sticky and Queens Park has literally no shade... It fails as a park. Anyway, besides the sweltering and sweat inducing heat we heard four... I think it was four... speakers speak about the cause we were fighting for. Same-sex marriage rights. The rally was, I think, a huge success, considering our dwindling numbers at the start, we probably had 250+ by the time it was finished. Walking through the streets shouting "What do we want? Same-sex marriage rights. When do we want it? Now." was exhilarating and awesome. Our group somehow managed to get in front of the main banner so we practically lead the whole group through the streets. I expected many boos and other crude comments or facial expressions but, as it turns out, we were just cheered on and filmed/photo'd with a few exceptions. It's surprising how many people carry a camera these days. I loved watching the Asian tourists stop and stare, I lol'd on the inside. It was just an awesome experience for a rally-virgin and will certainly be attending the next one.

Human superiority and stupidity.
So, this little girl was savagely attacked by a wallaby. Alright, I do admit that it looked bad and the little girl was cute and is was tragic for the mother to watch, blah blah blah. But the thing that really pissed me off was when they said this, "the wallaby situation is getting out of hand and want them to be clubbed." WHAT. THE. FUCK. Ok, seriously, just because we're humans doesn't give us the right to randomly start clubbing an animal because "its getting out of control." This is the equivalent of a small child with blonde hair biting another child and therefore all the small little blonde children have to be killed because it is now considered dangerous because that one little blonde kit bit the other kid. See? You wouldn't harm a small and supposedly innocent child now would you? What the hell separates a wallaby from that? Do not even say that we are superior because we're all here. Just wait until the tables are turned and we are killed off to feed cows and sheep. IT HAPPENS! Get the fuck over it.
My view on 2012.
Yes, I did see it. It was excruciatingly stunning, and now I guess you want reasons for this conclusion, so this is it. First of all, it goes for ages and when you have another hour and thirty minutes to go, you've wondered why the world hasn't fucked itself by now. I sensed that the film was trying too hard like "Lets shove action and morals together! That always works!" It may work but it makes for an incredibly cliche performance. So, this film practically reads from the Book of Cliche End of the World Films. For example, the end of the world seems to fit in nicely with the survival of the protagonist, seriously, make one where he dies, it'd be more tragic and interesting. I mean, it was climactic etc. but I was literally sitting being like, "He's not dead" and "This is gonna happen" and, to my amazement it did. I'm a kickass psychic. Anyway, apart from the basic storyline, the visual effects and CGI were pretty epic; I have to give them credit for that because that was enjoyable although it was that CGI where you knew it was. Of coarse I'm asking for a lot when I ask for there to actually be a massive volcano coming out of the ground and erupting but it would have been more realistic if that was the case. I lol'd in some places because I was like "As if..." and "Haha, the old women ran into a piece of rising earth." Also, the fact that they added horrible one liners before something bad happens was irritating and I wanted to slap the screenwriter for doing so and the way the cracks so happened to split important landmarks etc. throughout the world was absolutely amazing and horribly cheesy.

Another thing was the fact that this is based on an actual theory. Which, surprisingly, scares the fuck out of me. I'm not sure that this is going to happen but, like most humans, the unknown scares the living breath out of me and I had a queasy stomach watching the first parts of the film. I also have a fear of death which could have contributed to it; a mixture of fear, death and the unknown is shit scary. I wasn't scared so much at the CGI etc. but the whole concept of the end of the world. I know what I want to do on 21/12/12 - be with my friends. Just in case.

Verdict: 2.75/5 stars. A visually stunning film but lacked in true morality and originality.

Peace out,
